Great detailed reflections Dave, thank you. I love the idea that Yahoo! product teams were like many lean startups.

Doubly true in Yahoo!’s non-US businesses, which were less reliant on central silo services and took many liberties with UX and tech/content partnerships to adapt to their local market.

As for being a kid meeting with big corporates, I remember going to meeting after meeting with the ASX to try to persuade them to provide us with a full feed of 20min delayed stock prices. Huge boardroom, expensive suits, uniformed waitpersons and fancy coffee and pastries. But also blind to change, defensively postured and fear-driven. The awesome Katie Jacobs-Stanton got them onboard eventually.
