Challenges are where growth comes from
Can I do 10,000 steps a day for 30 days this month, to raise money for charity, come rain, riot or firestorm?

I don’t know if I can, and that’s the whole point of challenging myself to try.
I want my life to always be challenging — no challenge, no growth.
If you’re lucky, life’s mostly challenges you choose for yourself. But sometimes, you’re faced with challenges you didn’t choose, weren’t ready for now, or ever.
My step goals are only with me until the end of this month, but maybe some of the challenges you haven’t chosen them will be with you for life.
Through work and friendships I’ve come to know people whose challenges are far bigger than mine, the kind they weren’t lucky enough to choose for themselves, that might be with them for life.
This is for those friends, who know who they are
Even though you’ve been set challenges you might overcome, or might never totally conquer, you’ve learned to adapt and grow and love and laugh with the body, mind and heart you’ve been given.
Sometimes, of course, it’s hard, and maybe the dark canyon you’re in feels like it’s got no end to it. Life’s not fair, some things suck so bad, and maybe your life will never be as long or as free as the life I take for granted some of the time.
At other times, you give me the wonderful gift of a cheeky grin, a fist bump, a laugh, or a hug. I might get taken down a peg or two when I’ve been full of shit, or lifted up — inspired by your strength of character, when you shine as the unique and incredible human being you are.
What can I do about it?
I’ve chosen to complete the #Steptember challenge this month to raise money for Cerebral Palsy Alliance’s work in researching better therapies, services and assistive technologies to give people with cerebral palsy a chance to aspire to experience things you and I probably take for granted some of the time.
It’s my way of showing that I’m grateful for the chance I have to choose my own challenges.
